# Brevo integration (formerly Sendinblue)

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) is an email and SMS automation platform known for its advanced segmentation. Connecting Brevo to an OptiMonk campaign sends everyone who fills out your popup straight to the Brevo list you picked — no exports, no copy-paste.

**Before you start:** the popup has to be **built** (the field mapping is read from the input fields of your popup), and you need a Brevo account.

**Heads-up on the name.** In the provider picker Brevo is still listed under its former name, **Sendinblue** — search for *Sendinblue* if you can't find *Brevo*.

---

## Step 1 — Open the campaign's Integrations tab

1. Click **Campaigns** in the left menu and open the campaign that collects email addresses or phone numbers.
2. Switch to the **Integrations** tab.
3. Click **Add integration**. On a campaign with no integration yet the same step is offered as *Connect your email or SMS tool*.

---

## Step 2 — Pick Sendinblue (Brevo) on the Provider step

Type *Sendinblue* into the **Search providers…** box and pick it from the list. Accounts you have already connected are listed at the top under *Your connected accounts* — pick one there and you skip straight to the list step.

---

## Step 3 — Get your Brevo API key

Keep the OptiMonk window open and, in a new browser tab:

1. Log in to your Brevo account.
2. Click your account name in the top right, then select **SMTP & API**.
3. Create an API key:

- **First time:** click the prompt to create your first API key.
- **Existing keys:** click **Create a new API key**.
4. Give the key a name (for example *OptiMonk Integration*).
5. Copy the generated key.

---

## Step 4 — Connect the account

Back in OptiMonk, on the **Account** step:

1. Optionally fill in **Name (optional)** so you recognise the connection later — leaving it empty names it *Sendinblue*.
2. Paste the key into the **API key** field.
3. Click **Connect**.

If the key is wrong you get *Connection failed — check the credentials* with the reason underneath.

---

## Step 5 — Choose the list

On the **List** step, pick the Brevo list new signups should join. Use **Search lists…** if the list is long, then click **Continue**.

---

## Step 6 — Map the fields, then save

The mapping table has two columns: **Popup field** on the left (every input your popup collects) and **Sendinblue field** on the right. OptiMonk pre-fills the mapping with its own suggestions, so in most cases you only need to check it.

- The **email** row is fixed — it always goes to Brevo's `EMAIL` identifier.
- Pick **Don't sync** for any popup field you don't want to send.
- Under **Static fields** you can send a fixed value with every submission (for example a campaign name). Click **Add static field**, type the value on the left, and choose the Brevo field on the right.

Click **Save integration** when you are done.

That's it. From now on every signup through this popup lands in your Brevo list.

**Draft vs. live:** if the campaign has not been published yet, the integration is shown with a **Draft** pill and the note *Saved as draft — it goes live when you publish the campaign.* On a published campaign it is applied right away and shows as **Active**.

---

## Tags

The classic OptiMonk admin let you attach Brevo **tags** to the leads of a campaign. The campaign integration wizard in the new app does not offer a tag step. If you want to mark where a contact came from, add a **static field** on the mapping step instead — a fixed value (for example the campaign name) sent into a Brevo field with every submission.

---

## Change or remove the integration

The Integrations tab lists every integration on the campaign with its list name.

- **Change list** / **Edit mapping** reopens the wizard at that step.
- **Remove** takes the integration off this campaign: *Remove from this campaign? The account connection stays and can be added again.* Your Brevo API key is not deleted, so you can reuse the connection on another campaign.

## How to use double opt-in with OptiMonk campaigns

Brevo offers two ways of handling double opt-in:

- Custom subscription forms with built-in double opt-in.
- Marketing automation workflows for confirmation emails.

Since your subscription form is the OptiMonk popup, you need Brevo's marketing automation to trigger the double opt-in confirmation email. There is no double opt-in switch in the OptiMonk integration wizard for Brevo. Brevo has a guide for the workflow [here](https://help.sendinblue.com/hc/en-us/articles/211244629-Using-Marketing-Automation-to-create-a-double-opt-in-subscription).
