# How to add and modify domains? Canonical URL: https://support.optimonk.com/en/articles/how-to-add-and-modify-domains A **domain** in OptiMonk is one website you run campaigns on — and it is also your **workspace**: the domain you pick in the sidebar decides which campaigns, reports and leads you see. This article shows you how to add a domain, how to tell whether the OptiMonk code is on it, and how to move a campaign from one domain to another. --- ## Add a domain 1. Click your **initials** in the bottom left corner, choose **Settings**, then open **Domains**. 2. Click **Add domain** in the top right corner of the tab. 3. Type your site into the box — *Type a new domain, e.g. example.com* — and click **Add**. The new row lands at the top of the list. You can also add a domain without leaving the page you're on: open the **workspace switcher** at the top of the sidebar and choose **Add domain**. That opens a dialog headed *Where should we build?* with a `yourstore.com` box; OptiMonk reads your logo, colors and site type while you type, and the button says **Add domain**. If the site is already on your account the dialog says so — *No need to add it again — switch to it and keep building.* — and the button becomes **Switch to it**. **Type the address the way your site actually serves it.** Protocol, `www.` and anything after the host are stripped for you (`https://www.example.com/collections` becomes `example.com`), but the host itself has to be the one visitors see in the address bar once the page has fully loaded. **A common issue for Shopify users:** every Shopify store has a `myshopify.com` handle, but most shops serve a different display domain. If the store starts at `abrakadabra1245.myshopify.com` and ends up on `abrakadabra.com`, add **abrakadabra.com**. --- ## Is the OptiMonk code on the site? Each row carries its own status on the right: - **Code inserted** — green. The OptiMonk code is loading on that domain. It may add *· no recent traffic*, which means no page view has arrived from the domain in the last 24 hours, but the code is still installed. - **Not inserted** — red. Nothing is loading yet, so campaigns on that domain cannot show. Under the domain name a second line says what the domain is doing for you: **No campaign running**, **1 live campaign** / **{n} live campaigns**, or just **1 campaign** / **{n} campaigns** when campaigns are switched on but the code is missing. **To connect a domain**, click the row to open it. OptiMonk loads your site once and tells you what it found — *We recognized your platform: {platform}* — with a **What you'll do** list of steps, a **Connection guide** button that walks the platform's exact steps, and **Check now** to verify. If the site can't be read, you pick the platform yourself from the list: Shopify, Wordpress / Woocommerce, Bigcommerce, Google tag manager, Magento, MerchantPro, Unas, Gomag, Shoprenter, Custom website or Other platforms. **Check now** loads your site once and looks for the code — it does not need visitors — and answers with one of: - *The OptiMonk code is live on {domain}.* - *We looked at {domain} and could not find the OptiMonk code yet. Make sure you saved your changes and the page is publicly reachable, then check again.* - *An OptiMonk code is on {domain}, but it belongs to a different account. Replace it with the code above.* Opening an **already connected** domain shows which **Platform** (or **Installed with** method) was recorded, with a **Change platform** button if the store has since moved to a different system. --- ## How many domains can I have? The allowance comes from your plan. The Domains tab prints it next to the title — *{used} of {limit} domains used* — and **Usage** shows the same thing as a bar with *{pct}% of {limit} limit*. When you are at the cap, activating another one fails with: *You've reached your active domain limit. Deactivate another domain or upgrade your plan to activate this one.* Each plan's domain allowance is listed on the **Change plan** screen (**Settings → Subscription → Change plan**) as **Max. {count} domains**; plans with no cap show **Unlimited domains**. Open it to see **Your domains** with each site's active-campaign count, switch to another one, or jump to **Add domain**, **Domain settings**, **Install snippet** and **Team**. Switching the workspace re-scopes the app: the **Campaigns** list, **Reports**, **Leads** and **Recents** all follow the domain you picked. That is why the campaign list has no domain filter of its own. --- ## Move a campaign to another domain Campaigns belong to a domain, and you can change that from the campaign itself — the domain is written under the campaign's name in its header. 1. Open the campaign from the **Campaigns** list. 2. Click the **domain name** under the campaign title. (If the campaign has none yet, the same spot reads **Assign domain**.) 3. Choose **Move campaign** to relocate it, or **Copy campaign** to leave the original where it is and put a copy on the other domain. 4. Pick the target from the list — long lists get a *Search domains…* box — or use **Add new domain** to type one in and **Add & assign** it in one go. Each row in the picker tells you whether that domain has the code: **Code inserted** / **Code not inserted**. Moving a **live** campaign is flagged: *This campaign is live — switching its domain changes where the snippet is expected and where analytics are collected. Data already collected stays under the old domain. * --- ## Remove a domain Use the bin icon on the row. If campaigns are using it, OptiMonk says what will happen before you confirm — for example: *{count} campaigns use {domain}. Removing it switches them off and clears their domain — each one needs a new domain before it can run again. Remove {domain}?*
