# How to transfer your OptiMonk leads to Shopify?

Canonical URL: https://support.optimonk.com/en/articles/how-to-transfer-your-optimonk-leads-to-shopify

Shopify is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms available. First, connect OptiMonk to your store by following this guide. On top of that, you can forward the subscribers your popups collect straight into your Shopify **Customers** list.

*Please note that this forwarding only supports the Firstname, Lastname, Email and Phone fields, plus Customer tags.*

**Two things live in two places:**

- **Setting up the Shopify forwarding** happens in the **classic admin** — the campaign builder's **Integrations** tab is for email and SMS tools, and store-bound integrations such as Shopify are not offered there.
- **Watching the leads and fixing failed syncs** happens here, on the **Leads** page.

---

## 1. Why Shopify is not in the campaign's Integrations tab

Open a campaign from **Campaigns** in the left menu and go to its **Integrations** tab, and you get a wizard that says *Forward popup subscribers to your email/SMS tool. Connect an account, pick a list, and new signups sync automatically.* The provider list there holds email and SMS tools — Klaviyo, Omnisend, AWeber, Slack, webhooks and so on.

Store-bound integrations (Shopify, ShopRenter) are deliberately kept out of that list: they depend on the store app connection, not on an API key you paste in. The targeting help in the app says the same thing in one line: *The separate Integrations page is for e-mail/marketing tools, not for the store.*

## 2. Set up the Shopify forwarding in the classic admin

1. Click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose **Go to classic admin**. You are signed in there automatically.
2. Select **Campaigns** on the left, then open the campaign whose subscribers you want in Shopify.
3. Click **Edit settings** on the right.
4. Under *Where would you like to send the subscribers and campaign data?*, click **Add new integration**.
5. Select **Shopify** from the list.
6. If you use several Shopify domains with OptiMonk, pick the one you want the subscribers to go to from the dropdown. Give the integration setting a name, then click **Next**.
7. On the next screen, match the input fields of your campaign with the data in Shopify. You can also create **customer tags** here to tell the customers coming from your OptiMonk campaigns apart from the rest.

Only the Firstname, Lastname, Email and Phone fields and Customer tags are supported.
8. Click **Done**, then **Next** in the top right corner to save.

**Good to know:** the campaign's **Integrations** tab in the new app lists the integrations you added *there*. A Shopify forwarding set up in the classic admin keeps working, but it is managed in the classic admin.

## 3. Where the forwarded data shows up

- In **Shopify**, on the **Customers** page of your admin. You can filter your customers by the tags you set, and the tags also show on the individual customer page.
- In **OptiMonk**, on the **Leads** page (left menu). Each row shows the **Contact**, the **Sync status**, the **Campaign**, the **Domain** and the **Date**; **Coupon code** and any other field you collected can be switched on with the **Columns** button (**All columns** / **Standard only**).

## 4. When some subscribers did not make it to Shopify

The old admin showed a *Failure* sync status. In the new app the same thing is on the **Leads** page, in plain words.

1. Open **Leads** in the left menu.
2. Narrow the list down: **Select domain**, **Select Campaigns** and a **Date range** (then **Apply**; **Clear** empties the filters).
3. Switch on the **Failed** filter to see only the leads that did not sync.

*Only failed syncs from the last year are shown. Older failed leads still appear in the full list, but can't be filtered here.*
4. The **Sync status** column names the reason. The most common ones:

| Status | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Synced / Completed | The lead reached the connected tool. |
| Pending / New | Not forwarded yet. |
| Integration issue | The sync failed — click the row for the details. |
| Invalid email | The visitor gave an invalid or fake address, so it was not forwarded. |
| Invalid phone number | Same, for the phone number. |
| Subscriber already exists | The contact is already in the target tool. |
| Already unsubscribed | The contact opted out earlier. |
| Incorrect API key / Invalid list / Field mapping issue / Account issue | Something is wrong with the connection itself. |
| Server error | The other side failed to answer. |
5. Click a failed lead to open the **Integration issue** panel: *This lead failed to sync. Retry the integration to try again.* Open **Details** for the message the other side sent back, then click **Retry**.

- *The lead synced successfully.* — done.
- *Still failing — check the integration settings.* — fix the connection first (wrong credentials, deleted list, changed field mapping), then retry.
6. Leads that can never sync — a fake email address, for example — can simply be removed. Tick them in the list, then use **Delete** in the bulk bar (*{n} selected*). The confirmation says *Delete leads? This permanently deletes the selected leads. This can't be undone.*

## 5. Export

Use **Export** at the top of the Leads page to get **Export as XLSX** or **Export as CSV**. The file is not downloaded in the browser: *Export started — we'll email it to {your address}.*
