# Integrating OptiMonk campaigns with Zapier

[Zapier](https://zapier.com/) makes it easy to connect different web apps. With this integration you can send subscriber data from [OptiMonk](https://www.optimonk.com/) to Zapier — first names, last names, email addresses, the URL the popup appeared on, and any other field your popup collects.

❗Our Zapier integration works through Zapier's **webhooks**, which are a **premium feature**. If you're on Zapier's free plan, you can still connect OptiMonk with our Webhook integration.

**Before you start:** the popup has to be built, because the field mapping is read from the input fields of your popup. Have your Zap ready too (or create it in step 6 below) — you will need its webhook URL.

## Step 1 — Get the webhook URL from Zapier

**If you already have a Zap with a *****Catch Hook***** trigger:**

1. Log in to [Zapier](https://zapier.com/) and select **Zaps** on the left.
2. Open the Zap you want to use.
3. Click the **Catch a Webhook** step, go to **Configure**, and copy your webhook URL.

**If you don't have one yet:**

1. Log in to [Zapier](https://zapier.com/), go to **Zaps**, click **Create**, then **New Zap**.
2. In the Zap editor, for **Trigger** select **Webhooks**.
3. For **Trigger event**, choose **Catch Hook**, then continue — Zapier shows you the webhook URL. Copy it.
4. Set up the **Action** you want. A simple one to start with: **Email** in *Built-in tools*, action event **Send Outbound Email**, then configure the email from the fields you get from OptiMonk.

Keep the URL on your clipboard — you need it in the next step.

## Step 2 — Add the integration to your campaign

1. Open **Campaigns** in the left menu and click the campaign you want to connect.
2. Open the **Integrations** tab.
3. Click **Add integration**. If this is your first one, the same step is offered as *Connect your email or SMS tool*.
4. **Provider** step: pick **Zapier**. If the list is long, type into the *Search providers…* box.
5. **Account** step: click **Connect a new account**, paste the Zapier webhook URL into the URL field, and — optionally — give the connection a name in **Name (optional)** so you recognise it later. Click **Connect**.

If you have connected Zapier before, the existing connection is offered here instead; pick it and continue.
6. **Field mapping** step: decide what each popup field is called on the Zapier side (see below), then click **Save integration**.

That's it. Every time a visitor fills in your popup, OptiMonk posts the submission to that URL and your Zap runs.

**Draft vs. live:** if the campaign has not been published yet, the integration shows a **Draft** pill and the note *Saved as draft — it goes live when you publish the campaign.* On a published campaign it is applied right away and shows as **Active**.

## Field mapping

The mapping table has two columns: **Popup field** on the left (every input your popup collects) and **Zapier field** on the right.

Zapier accepts any property name, so the right column is a free-text box. The hint under the table says it: *Type the exact Zapier field or property name (e.g. first_name). Leave empty to skip a field.*

- Leave a row empty (**Don't sync**) for any popup field you don't want to send.
- Under **Static fields** you can send a fixed value with every submission — for example a campaign or source name. Click **Add static field**, type the value on the left and the property name on the right.

## Step 3 — Test it

1. In Zapier, run the test on the **Catch Hook** step.
2. Trigger the popup on your site and fill it in. If several campaigns run on your site, make sure you trigger the one you just set up.
3. Zapier should now show the sample data. If it does, finish the Zap (**Continue** → **Done Editing**) and **Publish** it.

## Change or remove the integration

The Integrations tab lists every integration on the campaign.

- **Edit mapping** reopens the setup at the mapping step.
- The **bin icon** takes the integration off this campaign: *Remove from this campaign? The account connection stays and can be added again.* Your Zapier URL is not deleted, so you can reuse it on another campaign.

## FAQ

**Issue: Zapier can't find sample data**

Possible reasons:

- You haven't submitted the popup since adding the webhook.
- The webhook URL is incorrect or missing in OptiMonk.
- The integration was saved as a draft and the campaign has not been published yet.

How to fix:

- Double-check that the URL in Zapier matches the one in OptiMonk.
- Make sure you're testing the correct campaign.
- Publish the campaign (a **Draft** integration doesn't forward anything yet), then submit the popup again.
- If the popup isn't appearing, try clearing your cookies.
