# Is it possible to transfer one campaign to another account?

**Between two OptiMonk accounts: no.** A campaign — and the design history behind it — belongs to the account it was created in, so it cannot be handed over to a different account on your own.

**Between the domains of your own account: yes.** You can **move** a campaign to another of your sites, or **copy** it there and keep the original. That is what most people are actually after, so it is worth checking first.

---

## Move or copy a campaign to another of your domains

1. Open **Campaigns** in the left menu and click the campaign.
2. The campaign's domain is shown right under its name in the header. Click it.
3. The panel opens on two tabs: **Move campaign** and **Copy campaign**. Pick the one you want.

- **Move campaign** — the same campaign now belongs to the other site. There is only ever one campaign.
- **Copy campaign** — you get a second, independent campaign on the other site, and the original stays where it is. You'll see *Campaign copied to yourothersite.com*.
4. Click the destination domain. Each row tells you whether the OptiMonk code is already on that site — **Code inserted** or **Code not inserted** — so you can see straight away whether the campaign will be able to run there.
5. If the site isn't in your account yet, click **Add new domain** at the bottom, type the domain, and click **Add & assign**. It is added and the move (or copy) happens in one step.

### Moving a campaign that is already live

If the campaign is switched on and we can see the snippet running, the panel warns you first:

This campaign is live — switching its domain changes where the snippet is expected and where analytics are collected. Data already collected stays under the old domain.

The move also re-points the live campaign at the new host, so your visitors see it in the right place without waiting for a re-publish. If that last step fails you get *Campaign moved, but its live domain was not updated. Retry the sync.* with a **Retry sync** button — click it and it's done.

---

## When the move or the copy is refused

Both **Move** and **Copy** stop with this message when the campaign's design history was created in a different OptiMonk account:

This campaign's design history belongs to a different OptiMonk account, so it cannot be used in another domain workspace. Please contact support to have it transferred.

This is deliberate, and it is the same reason the answer at the top of this article is "no": the popup's build history is what the editor opens when you want to change the campaign. Copying the campaign without it would hand you a campaign you cannot edit — so instead of producing a broken copy, we stop and ask you to get in touch. Write to us and we'll sort it out.

You may also see *domain does not belong to account* — that means the destination domain isn't one of yours. Add it under **Settings → Domains** first.

---

## Just want the same popup twice on the same site?

You don't need a move for that. On the campaigns list, open a campaign card's menu and choose **Duplicate** — you get *Campaign duplicated.* and an independent copy you can edit freely.

---

## If you really do need it in another account

There is no self-service route, so you have two options:

- **Write to us.** Tell us which campaign, which account it is in now and which account it should end up in.
- **Rebuild it.** This is far less work than it used to be: start a **New campaign**, describe the popup in a sentence or two — you can even point the assistant at the live popup's screenshot — pick a concept, and it is built for you in a couple of minutes. Then set the triggers and targeting to match the original on the campaign's **Settings** tab.
