# Magento integration

*OptiMonk has direct integration with Magento, so you can use the OptiMonk application (available in the Magento Marketplace) to integrate the two systems.*

Installing an application on Magento takes a few steps. OptiMonk walks you through all of them with screenshots — open **Settings → Domains**, click your store's domain row, then **Connection guide**, and under **Connect your website** → *What e-commerce platform do you use?* choose **Magento**. The guide has three steps, and this article follows the same three.

## Step 1 — Create a new access key

1. First, log in to your Magento Marketplace account at [https://marketplace.magento.com](https://marketplace.magento.com/). Click on your name in the top right corner, then click on **My Profile**.
2. Click on **Marketplace**, then **Access Keys** under **My Products**.
3. Select your Magento version, then click on **Create A New Access Key**.
4. Give a name to your access key, then click **OK**. This will create a **Public** and a **Private Key** — you will need both on your Magento Admin page.
5. Open the Magento Admin page in a new browser window, and click on **System**, then **Web Setup Wizard**. (Take a note of your **Magento version** while you are there.)
6. Select **Component Manager** on the next page.
7. Select **Sign in** to sync your Magento Marketplace purchases.
8. Copy the Public and Private keys you created in the Marketplace, then click **Sign in**.

## Step 2 — Install the OptiMonk application

1. Go back to Magento Marketplace, click on the Search bar at the top, and search for **OptiMonk**.
2. Select the correct version of the OptiMonk application for your Magento version, then click on **Add to Cart**.
3. Complete the checkout steps. The OptiMonk application is free in the Magento Marketplace.
4. Go back to your Magento Admin page / Component Manager, and click on **Sync**. Then click **Install** under **New Purchases** and select the OptiMonk application from the list.
5. Click on **Start readiness check**.
6. Once it is finished, click on **Next**. In the next step, you can create a backup — click **Next** once you have selected the options you want to use.
7. Click on **Install** to finish the setup.

## Step 3 — Paste your OptiMonk ID

This is the only step that happens in OptiMonk, and you do not have to look anything up: the guide's third step, **Paste your OptiMonk ID**, shows it for you — *Copy your OptiMonk ID ****12345**** and paste it into the Magento Admin page to finish the setup.*

1. Copy your OptiMonk ID from the guide.
2. Paste it into the OptiMonk settings on your Magento Admin page and save.
3. Back in OptiMonk, click **Check now** at the bottom of the guide. When everything is in place, you get *The OptiMonk code is live on your-domain.com*, and the domain row in **Settings → Domains** switches to **Code inserted**.

If it says *We looked at your-domain.com and could not find the OptiMonk code yet…*, make sure the extension is enabled and your store cache is refreshed, then click **Check again**.

*Checking loads your site once and looks for the code — it does not need visitors.*
