Gamification is quite a new trend, and it means the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts, like marketing campaigns. That makes our popup campaign more interesting and effective. But that is not all: gamification helps to make visitors interact in a way that is fun for them, too.
Besides the really popular Scratch Card and Lucky Wheel templates, we are really happy to present our latest gamification element: Pick a Present!
What exactly is “Pick a Present” and how can I use it?
To try it, create a campaign with the “New Campaign” button under the “Campaigns” category, and then take a look at the templates! Be aware, however, that the gamification elements cannot be added separately to your campaign.
We have ready to use templates with the Present element that you can use. To set up a Pick a present Campaign, follow these steps:
- First, log in to your OptiMonk account at https://app.optimonk.com/login/en
- Select New campaign on the right-hand side:

A campaign like this provides an excellent opportunity to collect more newsletter subscribers and building a better email list. Why? Because you can set it up so that your visitors need to provide their email addresses before they could pick a present. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
If you click on the element with the presents, the “Pick a Present” menu will pop open on the left side. Here you can modify the number of presents (2-5), the space between them, and the size as well, of course. You can enable or disable the title and the subtitle, and you can also edit what they say:
With the Test button, you are also able to check how the game will look in action!
Under the “Coupon settings” option, you can provide the Weighting Factor for the winning options of the boxes. In this editor, you can provide the probability of the prize (alias the coupon code) coming up for your visitors. For example, you can set up coupon codes of lower discount with a higher weighting factor, so it will appear more often during the campaign. The coupons providing high discounts can have a lower weighting factor, so it will be rarer:
Of course, it works with only one coupon code, as well. That means, that all of your visitors will find the same prize.
With the help of the Pick a Present template you can capture leads more efficiently as people are more willing to subscribe in case they get something in return (a coupon code in this case). Moreover, people like fun and playing games, so what could be a better solution for you to build your e-mail list?
