Coupon Codes in OptiMonk - Additional features for Shopify users

If you have a Shopify website, you will have access to additional features.

1) Fixed discount code creation in OptiMonk

For other websites, if you want to use a discount code in your Campaign, you will also need to set up the discount code on the admin page of your website. Otherwise, your website will not know the discount code. This is not the case if you are using fixed discount codes and have a Shopify website: you can set up and create the discount codes directly from the OptiMonk campaign Editor!

1.a) If the discount code you have specified for your Campaign doesn't exist in your Shopify admin, you will see the following:

You will have the option to create the discount code for your website's Shopify admin page right from OptiMonk. Click on the Create new discount code button to do so:

There are tons of discount settings available in Shopify, but from OptiMonk you can create discount with the following settings:

• Type: Percentage (%) OR amount
• The expiration date of the discount (optional)

1.b) If the discount code already exists on your Shopify admin page, we will let you know, and also list all the parameters your coupon has:

1.c) In case you already have the coupon code in your Shopify admin but it has expired, we will let you know that the coupon already exists, but it has expired so currently the visitors can't redeem it:

In this case, you will have to edit the coupon code on your Shopify admin page.

If you use a Shopify domain, you will see additional options for Coupon Codes under the General tab:

 

2) Discount code type: automatically generated Unique Codes

Choose this option to generate and manage your discount codes in OptiMonk and we will automatically add them to your Shopify store. This will generate a unique coupon code for every one of your visitors who fill out the campaigns.

Please note that automatically generated unique codes are not available for gamification templates.

You will be able to select a fixed discount or percentage and you will also be able to set an expiration date for your discount codes:

You can use the prefix to include a fixed part in the automatically generated unique code. It can make it easier to keep track of your automatically generated unique codes in your Shopify admin. For example, if I specify the prefix "SALE":

"SALE" will show up before the automatically generated part of the coupon code:

It is so convenient that you don't even need to set up the Unique codes in your Shopify account; OptiMonk will do all the work in the background:

Once the Campaign is saved with the Unique code, the coupon code will be generated automatically by OptiMonk when your Campaign appears for a visitor, and they see the discount code. For example, this Campaign template has a Main page and a Thank You page:

The Main page has a Timer and a Button Element. The Thank You page has the Coupon Element with the coupon code:

When the Campaign appears for a visitor, the timer starts:

When they click the Button on the Main page, it will take them to the Thank You page, where they will see the Unique code:

At this moment, OptiMonk will automatically forward the coupon code to your Shopify store, so your store will accept the coupon during checkout. This all happens automatically in the background.

You will find the coupon codes on the Discounts page of your Shopify Admin:

You will see them marked with a blue App icon, which indicates that this discount code was generated by an App (in our case, OptiMonk). You will also see whether the coupon codes were used.

3) Automatic discount validation: Auto redeem

If you enable this, the coupon code will be redeemed automatically for your visitors during checkout. This way, you can make sure they will not forget to redeem their coupon.
