OptiMonk offers several settings to customize how often your campaign appears. You can choose different trigger options and segment your visitors in various ways. One of the key settings is the Frequency, which controls how many times a visitor sees your message.
Important notes:
- Once a visitor completes the form in the popup, it won’t be shown to them again if you turn the “Count as conversion” on in your campaign.
- If a visitor closes the popup, it won’t appear again until they refresh or reload the page.
Please follow the below steps to edit the Campaign appearance rules:
1. Log in to your OptiMonk account at https://app.optimonk.com/
2. Select Campaigns on the left, then select the Campaign you wish to edit:
3. Click on Edit settings on the right or navigate to the How often can it appear? section.
4. If you clicked Edit settings, then select How often can it appear?
5. Each campaign type has default frequency settings. Here’s what you need to know:
5.1. Popup + side message campaigns
5.2. Embedded campaigns or Dynamic Content campaigns
5.3. Sticky bars
6. Elements of the frequency settings
6.1. Show Again
You can set how many times a campaign appears for each visitor. For example, a sticky bar that promotes your free shipping threshold or reminds visitors about a discount code can show up as many times as needed. However, you should not show visitors a signup popup or product recommendations too often, as this can disrupt their experience and make it less enjoyable.
6.2. With Frequency
If the number defined earlier was greater than one, you have additional options to define how much time is needed to pass between appearances for your popup to show up again to the same visitor:
The timer starts when the popup appears for your visitor. If the visitor fills out the form, the popup will not show again since the campaign goal has been met. The popup can only appear once each time a page loads. It can reappear only if the page is reloaded or the visitor goes to another page on your site. If a visitor closes the popup without filling it out, the timer will start. The popup won’t show again until the time set for the Frequency rule has passed.
6.3. Stop Showing
Here, you can set when the campaign should stop showing to the visitor, even if it hasn’t reached the maximum number of views.
If you have an Announcement Bar for your Christmas sales or a Newsletter Signup popup, you may want to hide the campaign from visitors who have closed it without signing up. However, if you have a dynamic product recommendation campaign, like a Browsing Reminder campaign or a Cart Abandonment Stopper popup, you might want to keep it visible until the visitor converts.
7. When you're done, click Next to Targeting to choose who will see the popup, or click Next in the top right corner to save your changes.
