This article walks you through connecting Keap to an OptiMonk campaign. Once you are done, everyone who fills out your popup form is added to Keap as a contact — and, if you want, tagged there automatically.
Before you start: you need a campaign whose popup is already built (the field mapping is read from the input fields of your popup) and a Keap account. Keap connects over OAuth, so you do not need an API key.
Connect Keap to your campaign
Open Campaigns in the left menu and click the campaign you want to connect with Keap.
Open the Integrations tab of the campaign.
Click Add integration. If this is the campaign's first one, the same step is offered as Connect your email or SMS tool.
Provider step: pick Keap from the provider list. If you have many providers listed, type into the Search providers… box. Accounts you have already connected are listed at the top, under Your connected accounts — pick yours there if you have connected Keap before, and jump to step 6.
Account step: Keap uses OAuth, so there is no credentials form — just a button. The step says You'll be redirected to Keap to authorize OptiMonk, then brought back here to finish the setup. Click Continue with Keap.
You are taken to the Keap login page (or straight to the account page if you are already logged in).
Keap asks which application you want OptiMonk to sync the new subscriber details to. Select the right app and click Allow.
You land back on this campaign's Integrations tab, with the new connection selected, and the wizard continues where you left off.
Settings step: choose the Tags you want new subscribers to get. The tags come from your Keap account, and they are listed as tick boxes — tick as many as you want, or none at all: the step is marked optional, and contacts are created either way.
Click Continue, then on the Field mapping step decide where each popup field goes in Keap (see below), and click Save integration.
That's it. Whenever a visitor signs up through your popup, they are added to Keap with the tags you picked. Their data also stays in OptiMonk — you find it under Leads in the left menu.
Draft vs. live: if the campaign has not been published yet, the integration is shown with a Draft pill and the note Saved as draft — it goes live when you publish the campaign. On a published campaign it shows as Active and is applied right away.
Field mapping
Keap has no list to choose from, so the wizard's middle step is Settings (the tags) instead of a list — and the mapping step comes right after it.
The mapping table has two columns: Popup field on the left (every input your popup collects) and Keap field on the right. OptiMonk pre-fills it with its own suggestions, so in most cases you only need to check it.
The email row is fixed — it always maps to the Keap email field.
Because Keap is configured without a list, the right-hand column is a free-text box: Type the exact Keap field or property name (e.g. first_name). Leave empty to skip a field. Type the field name exactly as Keap spells it.
Under Static fields you can send a fixed value with every submission — for example the source of the subscriber. Click Add static field, type the value on the left (e.g.
OptiMonk Summer Campaign) and name the Keap field on the right.
Change or remove the integration
The Integrations tab lists every integration on the campaign, with the tags you picked shown underneath it.
Change list reopens the wizard at the Settings step, so you can change the tags or the mapping.
Remove takes the integration off this campaign: Remove from this campaign? The account connection stays and can be added again. Your Keap authorization is not revoked, so you can reuse it on another campaign.
If the authorization fails
If you cancel the Keap screen or reject the permission, you come back to a message titled Authorization failed: The connection was cancelled or rejected — try connecting again. Just start the wizard again and click Continue with Keap once more.
