Connecting OptiMonk to Slack is a good way to keep track of your new subscribers: every time someone fills out your popup, the data lands as a message in the Slack channel you picked.
Before you start: you need a campaign in OptiMonk (the popup has to be built, because the field mapping is read from the input fields of your popup) and permission to add an app to your Slack workspace.
Slack has no subscriber lists, so this integration has one step less than an email tool: you connect the webhook, then you name the fields.
Step 1 — Create the Incoming WebHook in Slack
Keep the OptiMonk page open and open Slack in a new window.
Open Apps under Browse Slack.
Search for Incoming WebHooks and click Add.
Click Add to Slack on the next screen.
Select the Slack channel where you want to post the updates about your new subscribers, then click Add Incoming WebHooks integration.
Copy the Webhook URL. If you scroll down, you have further options to customize the integration (its name and icon in Slack) — when you are ready, click Save Settings at the very bottom.
Step 2 — Add Slack to your campaign
Open Campaigns in the left menu and click the campaign you want to set up with Slack.
Open the Integrations tab of the campaign.
Click Add integration. If this is your first one, the same step is offered as Connect your email or SMS tool.
Provider step: pick Slack from the provider list. If the list is long, type into the Search providers… box. Accounts you have already connected are listed at the top, under Your connected accounts.
Account step: paste the Webhook URL you copied from Slack into the URL field. The help under it says: The data (firstname, lastname, e-mail address, etc.) will be sent to this URL. You can also give the connection a name (Name (optional)) so you recognise it later — useful if you post to more than one channel. Click Connect.
Field mapping step: Slack has no lists, so the wizard jumps straight here. Give each popup field the name you want to see in the Slack message, then click Save integration.
That's it. From now on every submission on this campaign shows up in your Slack channel.
Draft vs. live: if the campaign has not been published yet, the integration is shown with a Draft pill and the note Saved as draft — it goes live when you publish the campaign. On a published campaign the integration is applied right away and shows as Active.
Naming the fields
The mapping table has two columns: Popup field on the left (every input your popup collects) and Slack field on the right. Because Slack has no field catalog to pick from, the right-hand column is a free-text box: Type the exact Slack field or property name (e.g. first_name). Leave empty to skip a field. Whatever you type here is the label that appears next to the value in the Slack message.
The email field is fixed — it always maps to
email.Leave a row empty (Don't sync) for any popup field you don't want to post to Slack.
Under Static fields you can send a fixed value with every submission — for example the campaign name, so you can tell at a glance which popup a subscriber came from. Click Add static field, type the value on the left, and the label on the right.
Change or remove the integration
The Integrations tab lists every integration on the campaign.
Edit mapping reopens the wizard at the mapping step, so you can rename the fields.
Remove takes the integration off this campaign: Remove from this campaign? The account connection stays and can be added again. The webhook connection itself is not deleted, so you can reuse it on another campaign.
To post to a different Slack channel, create a new Incoming WebHook in Slack for that channel and connect it as a new account — a webhook URL is bound to one channel.
