If your reports show no impressions, work through the checklist below in order. Most of it you can check inside OptiMonk — you don't need to read your site's source code.
1. Is the campaign switched on?
Open Campaigns in the left menu and click the campaign. The switch is in the top right of the campaign header, next to the status label.
Inactive — the campaign does not show on your site at all. Switch it on.
Active — it is being shown, according to your targeting rules.
Four states take the switch away from you, and each one says so on the header:
Under construction — You can switch the campaign on once the popup is built. Wait for the build to finish.
Archived — Restore the campaign from the archive to activate it.
Managed by the schedule — a schedule decides when the campaign runs; the header strip shows Start, End and whether it is Currently active or Currently inactive.
Ended (in red) — the schedule's end time has passed, so nothing is being shown any more even though the campaign flag is still on.
The campaign list shows the same thing at a glance — filter it with Status → Active / Inactive / Scheduled / Archived.
2. Is at least one variant active?
A campaign with no active variant has nothing to show.
On the campaign's Overview tab, look at the Variants table. Each row has an Active switch and a Traffic share. Make sure at least one variant that has a design is switched on.
If the campaign was built in the classic admin, its page tells you outright: No active variant — this campaign isn't being shown.
3. Is there a trigger?
Open the campaign's Settings tab and look at the first section, When will the popup show up. Without a trigger the popup can never appear — the empty section says so:
No triggers yet - add one so the popup can appear.
Click Add trigger and pick one: After a delay, On exit-intent, After scrolling, After inactivity, On click or On a JavaScript event. Triggers are combined with OR, so any one of them is enough.
While you are there, check the other two sections:
Who should see the popup — targeting rules are combined with AND. A narrow rule (one country, one URL) can mean almost nobody qualifies. No targeting rules - the campaign shows to all visitors.
How often can it appear — Show at most … time(s) per visitor, Wait at least … between impressions, and Stop showing after a visitor has converted / after a visitor has closed it. Any of these can mean a returning visitor never sees the popup again.
4. Is the OptiMonk code on your site?
This is the most common cause. You don't have to look at the source code — OptiMonk checks it for you.
Open Settings → Domains.
Find your domain in the list. Each row shows its status:
Code inserted — the code is on the site.
Not inserted — it isn't there yet.
no recent traffic — the code is installed, but nothing has loaded from that domain for 24 hours.
If it says Not inserted, click Connection guide, pick your platform, follow the steps and then click Check now.
The check loads your site once and looks for the code — it does not need visitors — and answers with one of:
The OptiMonk code is live on {domain}.
We looked at {domain} and could not find the OptiMonk code yet. Make sure you saved your changes and the page is publicly reachable, then check again.
An OptiMonk code is on {domain}, but it belongs to a different account. Replace it with the code above.
We could not reach {domain} to check. This is on our side — try again in a moment.
The campaign header carries the same signal: Snippet detected, or Snippet not detected - finish installation.
Guides per platform
The connection guide covers Custom website, Shopify, Wordpress / Woocommerce, Bigcommerce, Google tag manager, Unas, Gomag, Shoprenter, Magento, MerchantPro and Other platforms. Pick the one you use and the guide walks you through it — no need to hunt for a separate article.
Shopify: the app embed also has to be on
On Shopify, installing the app is not enough — the OptiMonk app embed has to be enabled on your theme. The Shopify guide shows its state and lets you fix it in place:
The OptiMonk app embed is turned on for {shop}.
The OptiMonk app embed is turned off for {shop}. Turn it on to make your campaigns show. → click Turn on the app embed, or Open the theme editor and switch OptiMonk on under App embeds.
Note that if you change your Shopify theme, the app embed has to be enabled again.
5. Read the campaign's own warnings
When something blocks a campaign, OptiMonk says so on the campaign page rather than leaving you to guess:
The OptiMonk code is not installed on your site, so this campaign cannot show up. → Finish installation
This campaign is switched on, but it hasn't reached your site yet. That usually clears up within a minute — if it doesn't, switch the campaign off and on again.
Your discount codes have run out — the campaign can't show a code. → manage codes
6. Is the User Experience Protector holding it back?
Settings → User Experience Protector is an account-wide cap that makes sure your popups don't overwhelm visitors even if you run many campaigns with bold targeting. On the Safe preset it optimises for user experience and will suppress campaigns to do it. If a campaign is switched on, installed and triggered but still rarely shows, try Normal or Off.
This setting is only available to the account owner.
7. Are you looking at the right period, domain and goal?
Reports is scoped to the domain selected in the workspace switcher at the top of the left menu — switch workspace if you are looking at the wrong site.
Change the date range; a brand new campaign has nothing in Yesterday.
On a campaign's Analytics tab, an empty period says so: No impressions or conversions for this campaign in the selected period. Try a wider range, or check back after traffic arrives.
A campaign that has never been published shows Campaign analytics not ready yet — Publish this campaign so OptiMonk can collect campaign-scoped metrics.
