You don't pick a template in OptiMonk any more. You describe what you want, and the designer draws you a set of concepts in your own brand — your colors, your fonts, your logo, read from your site. So the honest answer to "where do I find a template?" is: you don't need one.
What you do have is the Library: a wall of popups to browse when you want a starting point, plus every design your own account has generated so far.
1. Open the Library
Click Library in the left sidebar. The page is subtitled Every popup the designer agent has created, and it has two parts.
2. Your designs
If your account has generated concepts before, they come first, with a count next to the heading: Your designs — Popups this account generated — rebuild any of them.
This is the closest thing to "my saved templates". Any design you made in an earlier session can be used as the starting point for a new one.
3. The inspiration library
Below that is the Inspiration library — a curated wall of popups. Hover a card and it offers Use as inspiration; click it and the popup opens large, where you can step through the wall with the arrows and press Use this!
Use this! starts a new design session with that popup attached, and the first thing you are asked is what to do with it. The three answers are:
- Build exactly this — re-create the design as faithfully as it can.
- Use it as inspiration for my own brand — keep the idea, redraw it in your colors, fonts and products.
- This is a logo / brand element — the image isn't a design at all; put it inside the popup you are designing.
Then it asks which store it is for, and carries on like any other design session.
4. Filtering the wall
Above the wall are chips in two rows:
- Goal — Discount, Email capture, Upsell, Cart abandonment, Welcome, Gamification, Free shipping, Announcement, Other.
- Color — Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Purple, Pink, Neutral, each with its swatch.
Chips add up, and Clear filters removes them all. Only values that actually appear in the library are offered, so the rows are shorter on a small library than on a full one. If nothing matches you get No popups match the filters.
There is no filter by language and no filter by season inside the app — OptiMonk writes the copy in the language of the campaign you are designing, and seasonal ideas come to you (see below) rather than being browsed.
5. The two message types
Different formats give visitors a different experience. OptiMonk builds two of them.
Popup — drive more sales with behaviorally triggered messages
A popup appears as a card in the middle of the page, over a dimmed backdrop. This is the default, and the right choice for almost everything: cart abandonment, exit intent, or any moment you want the visitor to stop and decide.
🖥️ It appears in the middle of the page, over a dim overlay whose color and opacity you control. ❕ While it is open, the visitor's attention is on your offer.
⚡ What to use it for:
1. Collect subscribers. SMS engagement rates run far above email, so offering free shipping, a coupon code or a free ebook in exchange for an email address or a phone number grows both lists quickly.
2. Stop cart abandonment. Show a secondary offer to prevent abandonment and recover lost sales — a countdown, a discount, or free shipping over a cart value.
Fullscreen — the most attention-grabbing way to deliver a message
A fullscreen covers the entire screen: the imagery is the design, edge to edge, with your copy laid over it. There is no dimmed area, because there is no page showing behind it.
🖥️ It covers the entire screen. ❕ Nothing else competes for attention while it is open.
⚡ What to use it for: redirecting visitors to your best offers, promoting a downloadable document, or building an email or SMS list with one big, unmissable moment. See Fullscreen campaigns for how to ask for one and what changes when you edit it.
Sidemessage, sticky bar and embedded content are not available in this app. If you have campaigns in those formats, they keep running and you manage them in the classic OptiMonk admin.
6. What goes into a popup
The elements that used to be a reason to pick one template over another are simply things you can ask for: a discount code (a fixed code, a pool of unique codes, or a Shopify automatic discount), a countdown, a product recommendation, a survey or feedback question, a lucky wheel, a scratch card, and of course text, images, buttons and form fields.
Ask for them in the brief — "spin-to-win popup with a countdown" — or add them later by writing to the designer.
7. Seasonal ideas come to you
Rather than a seasonal filter, OptiMonk sends you seasonal campaign ideas by email: Before Black Friday and other peak events we email you a ready popup design for your store. You control it in Settings → Personal details, under Seasonal campaign ideas: Send me seasonal campaign ideas, and Only major events if you want fewer of them.
